Младен Матерић

Dear Mladen. I first met Mladen at Richard Demarco's with Tattoo Theatre and I visited him and he visited me just a few rare times. He was kind, attentive, insightful, human, the best sort of model. Funny, profoundly creative and inspirational in the work. He gave me a kind of permission to dream. I did a piece at NYU this past spring in homage to him, not knowing he had passed. Mladen was a gift and I carried him close to my heart ever since we first met even though I was in his company only a handful of times. I miss him and his troupe.
